Cost management/quantity surveying and cost monitoring is key and integral to every construction project.
Every Client needs to know how much their project is likely to cost before they commence with the detailed design or submit to planning. They need to understand the cost effect of any design changes and design development, and the cost of the project that they are going to issue to tender.
Construction projects should be cost driven, with the Client making cost informed decisions as the design of a project evolves.
Projects need to be commercially procured, with contract sum’s negotiated and agreed and with Contracts being prepared.
Once on site, the works need to be valued for regular cost certification, variations and changes need to be agreed and cost changes need to be reported.
At the end of the project the final account needs to be agreed.
Both pre and post-contract, Contract Administration also needs to be performed.
